  1.  Wetter digital- Shang chi, nominated for Ocar. However Green screen/CGI affects the industry as in the hobbit Ian McKellen visually broke down on set due to the excessive use of green screen. showing it takes away from a films authenticity
  2. A way technology has affected film in a good way is through social media, distributing a film has became immensely easier for global conglomerates through the use of trailers and social media platforms, in comparison to snow white where posters were the main source of marketing and it reached a much smaller audience than a social media post would
  3. exhibition of a film has affected film, home releases have, opinionatedly, ruined the magic of cinema where the theatrical window has decreased massively
Writing practice

Digital technologies have vastly affected the way that films are produced. from the Hollywood films of the 1920s to the sprawling multiplexes of today, the way films are made have fundamentally changed. Disney pioneered many of these shifts, such as steamboat willie using sound in animation for the first time. Today CGI is used by many film production companies to both cut costs and create fantastical worlds. for instance avatar leveraged its high budget to create world- class special effects using a 3D camera leading it to be the highest grossing film of all time. However some have argued that an over reliance on CGI can lead to a lack of authenticity within a film and feeling artificial. Famously whilst filming the hobbit Ian McKellen broke down on set, despairing at the lack of practical effects that made a film feel so magical.

While Shang chi utilised a balance of CGI and practical effects to create a blockbuster, snow white completely revolutionised how technology was used in animation thereafter. Disney, at this time was not a global conglomerate as is today, it was a smaller enterprise with a much lesser solidified audience. To create an audience they had to do something special and the essence in snow white is its ground breaking technology. For example rotoscoping was used where animators used live videos and layed there drawings over them to create realistic movements such as the dancing scene where snow white dances flawlessly with the dwarfs, Marjorie Bechler was the main live action actor in snow white which helped create more realistic animation which contrasted the choppy animation used before.
